Verified 5-star Google reviews from California CCW students trained in Van Nuys, serving Los Angeles and Southern California. Updated automatically, unfiltered.
Read enough reviews of one CCW instructor and the same points surface again and again. These are the themes that come up most often in ours.
California requires 16 hours for a reason, and most of it is not shooting. Students consistently mention that the legal side, use-of-force standards, where you can and cannot carry, and the responsibility that comes with a permit, is explained thoroughly rather than rushed to get to the range.
A large share of our students have never handled a firearm before signing up. Reviews repeatedly describe the pace as patient and the atmosphere as welcoming, with people leaving more confident than they arrived. Experienced shooters say the same course still gave them something new on the legal side.
Students point to the class size as the reason questions actually get answered. Scenario discussions, the "what if this happened" conversations, come up again and again as the most valuable part of the day, and those only work in a small group.
Every firearms school in Los Angeles has five stars somewhere. The rating alone tells you very little. What tells you something is the content of the reviews and whether they describe the thing you actually need.
When you are comparing CCW courses, look for reviews that mention the legal instruction specifically, not just that the range was fun. A course that gets you a certificate but leaves you fuzzy on when force is lawful has done half the job, and the half it skipped is the half with consequences. Look for mentions of class size, because one instructor with thirty students cannot coach anyone. Look for first-time shooters saying they felt comfortable, since that is the hardest thing for an instructor to get right.
