Every class is held at our Van Nuys facility. These guides cover the CCW application process for the counties and cities our students come from.
Training takes place in Van Nuys, seven days a week by appointment. Pick your county for its sheriff's application process, or your city for local detail and driving distance.
The training is statewide. The paperwork is not. Here is what actually differs once you leave our classroom.
California sets a single standard: 16 hours for an initial permit, 8 hours for a renewal, covering firearm safety, use-of-force law, and live-fire qualification. A course that meets the state requirement is valid whether you file in Los Angeles or Bakersfield. That is why students drive here from five neighboring counties rather than settle for whatever is closest.
Fees, wait times, interview requirements, psychological evaluations, and how many firearms you may list all vary by the issuing sheriff or police chief. Riverside processes quickly. Los Angeles County takes considerably longer. We tell you what your specific county expects before you file, so nothing comes back rejected over a form.
You apply in the county where you live, or in some cases the city, not where you train. If you live in Anaheim you file with Orange County even though your certificate came from Van Nuys. If you work in one county and live in another, residency is what counts.
On completion you receive the full training documentation your issuing authority asks for, formatted the way they expect it. If your county requests something unusual, tell us before class and we will make sure it is covered rather than have you come back for it.
